Let’s discover what Michael Van Natta, Account Manager at YourCause, had to say about his experience thus far. We asked Michael three questions to describe what he’s learned at the company and to give advice to a future YourCause employee. Here’s what he had to say:

1. What’s your favorite memory from your time at YourCause? 

One of my favorite memories from my time at YourCause is our annual holiday party! Whether I was running around doing the scavenger hunt, meeting and really getting to know some co-workers I hadn’t had the time to get to know previously, eating the great lunch or repping the badass YourCause sweaters, the party is always a blast. Lastly, the 100 in 100, getting to do some good just feels good and everyone was so appreciative to even the smallest of gifts. Lastly, was the Christmas party, where we all got to cut loose and have fun and just be silly. It really felt like a family party, not a work party, and that is really hard to find these days.

2. What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself while working at YourCause?

One thing I’ve learned about myself while working at YourCause is that my OCD is very helpful, and at the same time, it can be frustrating, both with myself and others. Attention to detail and sometimes trusting that your idea is right or that something seems off, sometimes that can save the company and your client a lot of time, money and effort. The backlash on that is, the time and effort is usually what I put on myself to solve what I perceive as an issue. It has worked out for me quite a few times and it has been a fruitless search a few times too. I think YourCause has not only helped me trust my gut, my obsessiveness, but they have encouraged me to really be me. That my ideas can be expressed and really consider and that even with all my own craziness, I am respected for that same craziness. YourCause has let me be me, and again, that’s really hard to find these days.

3. What advice would you give a future YourCause employee?

That this job, scratch that, this career, is not easy but it is rewarding. Knowing what we do, how much it actually effects so many Charities and so many people, that is the feeling you should walk out of here with everyday. No matter how bad a day you have, it really is hard to leave mad when you know the work you are doing is in one way or another, really helping so many charities. Remembering that each day will probably be what keeps me here for years and years to come. I can’t wait to see how this company grows and what it evolves into and really get to be apart of what shapes it along the way.
